Static artifacts were not enough for the decisions we needed to make.
Design documentation explained intent. It did not communicate experience. FC-Design-Lab allowed stakeholders to interact with product behavior instead of interpreting static deliverables, reducing translation loss before implementation.
Problem / System / Result
Design intent needed operational infrastructure.
Problem
Traditional Figma prototypes created translation loss and slowed product validation.
Static prototypes showed what interfaces looked like, but not how products behaved. Teams were making implementation decisions without experiencing real workflows, edge cases, or interaction logic.
System
Built a React/Vite prototyping infrastructure for full-fidelity product testing.
FC-Design-Lab replaced presentation artifacts with reusable React/Vite product infrastructure, allowing stakeholders to explore realistic states, interactions, and implementation tradeoffs before engineering investment.
Result
Roughly 80% of product validation now happens through coded prototypes.
Product conversations shifted from reviewing mockups to validating behavior, reducing ambiguity, accelerating decisions, and creating stronger alignment before development.

Align stakeholders
Give product, engineering, and leadership something concrete to react to.
Reduce translation loss
Make design intent harder to dilute between concept and build.
Design Leadership
Why this matters as design leadership.
The lasting value of FC-Design-Lab wasn't the prototypes themselves. It was creating repeatable infrastructure that changed how product decisions were made. Good design scales through systems, not individual deliverables.
Design leadership should build systems that outlive products.
The real value of design is not what gets shipped today, but the systems that allow
better products to be built tomorrow.
